Saturday, June 12, 2004 - Brownville, Nebraska

We left Boonville (and yes there is no e) passing Kansas City and got on I29 North. We stopped in Brownville, Nebraska at the Brownville State Recreation Area to look at the Steamboat Trace Hiking/Biking Trail. If we had not been able to bike in Rocheport we would have done it here. Brownville used to be a flourishing town (as were many) when the steamboats plied the river. Now there is not much there but a historic downtown and the Missouri River Historical Museum, which is housed in a retired 20th-century Missouri River dredgeboat, the Captain Meriwether Lewis.
