Tuesday, June 15, 2004 - Mandan, North Dakota

After breakfast this morning we drove on some paved and some gravel roads (some of which we backtracked because of slow progress) through the countryside. The scenery changed from rolling lumps to more buttes and badlands type of topography. There is a lot of big-sky country here and not many towns - lots of cows and horses though. Our car and bicycles are so dusty from the gravel roads. We need a good rain shower to wash them off - I haven't seen any car washes - the towns are too small.
