Sunday, June 13 - Yankton, South Dakota

After leaving Sioux City we drove northwest to Yankton, SD, stopping at Riverside Park along the Missouri and driving through the historic downtown section. The Meridian Highway Bridge in the picture connects Nebraska on the left with South Dakota on the right. We are just below Gavins Point Dam, looking upstream. This segment is one of two protected river segments largely unaffected by the dams upstream from here. The other is the stretch from Niobrara to the Fort Randall Dam that we are floating by Zodiac this afternoon.

We drove several miles along the north shore of Lewis and Clark Lake formed by the Gavins Point Dam at Yankton.
