Tuesday May 23, 2000 - Hungry Horse

With our drive along the North Fork thwarted, we drove back to Columbia Falls and went to Hungry Horse Dam, and Reservoir, which is on the South Fork of the Flathead River. Water from this reservoir flows into Flathead Lake and from there into the Clark Fork and Columbia Rivers. The mountains in the distance appear to be in the Flathead Range to the southeast.

We had lunch at a little restaurant where we had a small bowl of chili and a huckleberry ice cream cone. From Hungry Horse, it a short drive to West Glacier and Going to the Sun Road.
