Tourist-information,
Councillors' Tavern. <
The Councillors' Tavern was built in
1446. It was reserved only for the Councillors. The ground floor - today
the Tourist-Information Office, was originally an open hallway in which
the important Scales of Justice were housed. The clock was installed
in 1683. The number above shows the day of the month, the one below
shows the hour and minute. "The Meistertrunk" scene was added
in 1910 depicting the legendary act in 1631, when at General Tilly's
command, ex-Mayor Nusch drank almost three quarters of a gallon of wine
(3-1/4 l) at one draught thereby saving the town from destruction. **
(Mechanical figures of the General
and the Mayor in the windows to the left and right of the clock reenact
the scene on the hour.)
