Town hall.

This imposing building consists of two parts. The Gothic town hall with its Imperial Hall and the tower (200 ft) dates from the period between 1250 1400. The front part, in Renaissance style, was built between 1572 and 1578. The arches were added in 1681. The electoral emblem can be seen at the front. The buildings are connected by a courtyard (note the remarkable Renaissance portal). Here and on the "Green Market" behind the town hall, the traditional Rothenburg Christmas market takes place. From the top of the tower (entrance through main door at the front of the market square) one has a wonderful view of the ancient town! **
