To Missoula on the Northern Parks Ltd. |
Thursday May 25, 2000 - East of the Divide We crossed the Continental Divide at Marias Pass and entered the Blackfeet Reservation, making a stop at the Museum of the American Plains Indian in Browning. One of our guides recommended an historical novel by James Welch called "Fools Crow" which is about the destruction of Blackfeet Indian culture. There is a significant difference in the amount of rainfall between the east and west side of the divide. Travelling back west toward the north end of Glacier Park, we noted that there are not many trees, and they are small and scrubby. As we got closer to the mountains, things got greener. East Flattop Mountain shows the wearing marks of the glaciers.
