Monday, September 30 - The Willamette and the Lower Columbia The Sea Bird left the dock in the late afternoon, cruising down the Willamette River through the center of Portland, and after about ten miles entered the Columbia, heading upstream. ![]() Port activities in and around Portland were quiet because of a current labor dispute. After dinner we had a video in the lounge about Lewis and Clark. The first leg of the trip upstream is at night, but the tour is planned so that what we go past at night we will travel through during daylight hours on the way back, so we won't miss anything. We went through the locks of the Bonneville and Dalles dams during the night, but other than that, nothing disturbed our sleep. Tomorrow, we will be in Eastern Washington's Wine Country. | Related Links Driving from Seattle to Portland and back Tour of Portland Lindblad Log Harry Fritz on Lewis and Clark River Basin Map Columbia Basin Hydroelectric Projects The Batterman's Web Site |
