Mount Ranier

Sunday, October 6, 2002 Mount Ranier Scenic Loop

After one last breakfast on the Sea Bird, we took a bus to Portland International Airport where we rented a car for a drive around Mount Ranier on our way back to Seattle. This route is just a portion of the "Scenic Loop" covering the southern and eastern sides of the mountain. We weren't sure we would actually get to see the mountain because of heavy fog. Between Morton and Packwood, the fog lifted, and while driving north on SR 123, we got several good views of the peak.

We spent the night at the Holiday Inn Express, and the next day caught a flight back to Pittsburgh. While waiting to board, we were surprised to bump into some old friends of ours from Massena, the McCullough's, waiting for the same flight to Pittsburgh. They had been in Seattle with their daughter Meagan and were heading back to South Carolina.
