To Missoula on the Northern Parks Ltd. |
Wednesday May 31, 2000 - Pompey's Pillar At breakfast, Harry Fritz gave us a lecture on the Battle of Little Bighorn to set us up for the day's journey. We then went by bus to Pompeys Pillar and the Little Bighorn Battlefield, site of Custer's Last Stand. Pompeys Pillar is a gigantic rock overlooking the Yellowstone River, where Captain William Clark left his inscription in 1806 on the return trip of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
